The Galvin Center is leading the University-Industry Consortium for Wind Energy Research, Education, and Workforce Development. Funded through a $9 million U.S. Department of Energy grant, the consortium's research and development objectives focus on addressing several challenges identified in the DOE's "20 Percent Wind Energy by 2030" report.

Chicagoland Wind Council 20th Meeting
The objective of the Chicagoland Wind Council (CWC) is to help companies develop a strategic plan for
finding new customers or develop products in the wind turbine market.
The first project for the CWC was to help each participating company develop a Strategic Plan that would guide
the company's actions as it enters or expands its customers in the wind supply chain. The Plan would
contribute to each company efforts to attend or exhibit in some form at the 2010 AWEA show in Dallas.

Wind Powering America 12th Annual All-States Summit
The Summit, which follows the annual WIND POWER Conference & Exhibition, provides state Wind Working Groups, state energy officials, U.S. Energy Department and national laboratory representatives, and professional and institutional partners an opportunity to review successes, opportunities, and challenges for wind energy and plan future collaboration.

2011 Workshop on Wind Energy Research at IIT
Illinois Institute of Technology was awarded an $8M grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to establish a University-Industry Consortium for Wind Energy Research, Education, and Workforce Development. On July 20, 2011, IIT's Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation hosted the second meeting of the Consortium members on IIT's main campus in Chicago. This meeting concluded with a reception and ribbon-cutting of the IIT's 1.5 MW GE Wind Turbine and the two 8kW Wind Turbines at IIT.

Advancing Wind Power in Illinois (Fifth Annual Conference) in 2011
This conference covered many aspects of wind energy including small wind, community wind and large wind farms. The two-day event was co-hosted by the Center for Renewable Energy at Illinois State University and the Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and included plenary sessions, breakout seminars, breakout panel sessions, and exhibitors.
